TURKESTAN AGENDA

As life moves at a rapid pace, the world’s agenda is also rapidly changing. What’s on Turkestan’s agenda? What’s happening there, what’s being discussed? Mirroring the political and cultural life of Central Asia, Turkestan Agenda brings events in this region and the hottest topics on Central Asia’s agenda to the screens via TRT Avaz.

Prepared and presented by Marmara University Faculty Member Fahri Solak, “Turkestan Agenda” is broadcast live from Istanbul Studios every Saturday between 17:40–18:20.

The program, which features the Eurasian agenda, is further enhanced with studio guests, short films, and phone-ins on the subject. Weekly reruns keep the Turkic world’s current events alive for those who missed the program or want to catch up again.

The program’s broadcast time was determined based on the time difference with the Turkestan region. TRT Avaz’s broadcasts on YAMAL 300K (Frequency: 10972) and Eutelsat 7A (Frequency: 10762), in addition to TÜRKSAT 3A (Frequency: 11096), increase the program’s viewership in Europe, the Balkans, the Caucasus, and Central Asia.

The program’s compelling first episode, broadcast on May 8, 2010, featured a special interview with Kyrgyz President Roza Otunbayeva in Bishkek. Since its inaugural broadcast, the program has continued to shed light on the real issues facing Eurasia. Each week, “Turkestan Agenda” delves into and clarifies prominent social, economic, political, and cultural issues in the region through commentary and analysis by expert guests.
